Privacy Policy

This policy describes what data Mektebi collects, why it collects it, and how it is protected — across both the web platform and the mobile app. Mektebi is made for Qur'an schools (mektebs); accounts are managed by the schools themselves.
1. Data controller
The data controller is the team that develops and maintains the Mektebi platform. For any privacy questions, you can contact us at mektebi.platform@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
We collect only the data needed to run the platform: full name, email address, and phone (account data); class attendance records; monthly tuition records (amounts and dates); and, if you enable notifications, a device token for push messages. We do not collect location, contacts, photos, or any advertising-tracking data.
3. How we use data
We use data solely to provide the service: sign-in and account management, showing schedules, tracking attendance and tuition, and sending notifications about schedule changes and tuition reminders. We do not use data for advertising or profiling.
4. Sharing and subprocessors
We never share one school's data with another school, nor do we sell it to third parties. To run the platform we use trusted subprocessors that handle data on our behalf: Supabase (database and authentication), Resend (sending emails), and Vercel (hosting). They process data solely to provide this service.
5. Data retention
We keep data while the account is active and as long as needed for the school's records. When an account is deleted, personal data is removed, while attendance and tuition records are retained in anonymized form for the school's bookkeeping (see Account deletion).
6. Your rights
You have the right to access your data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion (anonymization), and object to processing. You can view and change most of your data in the app (Profile). For other requests, contact your school's administration or us at mektebi.platform@gmail.com.
7. Account deletion
You can permanently delete your account in the mobile app (Profile → Delete account). Personal data and access are removed, while anonymized records remain with the school for bookkeeping. A detailed description is available on the separate account-deletion page.
8. Minors
Mektebi is made for schools, and students may be minors. Accounts are managed by the school, and data is processed on the school's behalf and under its responsibility. For minor users, consent and supervision are ensured by the school, or by a parent or guardian.
9. Security
Data is transmitted over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and stored in a protected database. Access is restricted by role and isolated per school. Passwords are never stored in readable form.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will announce significant changes to school administrators by email before they take effect.
